Present tense of -er verbs in French

There are three major groups of regular verbs in French: verbs with infinitives ending in -er, verbs with infinitives ending in -ir, and verbs with infinitives ending in -re.  The verb form that ends in -ER is called the infinitive (in English, the infinitive is the verb preceded by the word “to”), and -ER is the infinitive ending.

To conjugate these verbs in the present tense, drop the -er from the infinitive and add the correct endings given below:

singular plural

1. – е    1. ons

2. – es   2. – ez

3. – e     3. – ent

In the video there is an example of conjugation with the verb chanter(to sing).
